This photo was taken back in March of 2006. It is a daytime shot of the "Earth Globe" parked by the shore of World Showcase Lagoon. This unique 350,000 pound sphere is the centerpiece of Epcot's nighttime spectacular, Illuminations. It is the world's first spherical video display system and is wrapped in 15,600 LED clusters. The Earth Globe is 28 feet in diameter and sits on top of a 10-foot pedestal. It looks like a boring ball of brown metal when seen during the day, but it really comes to life during Illuminations.
