DDW Pic 1851. Harambe

It was a beautiful day at Animal Kingdom, with a light breeze. As I was waiting for my tour guests at Festival of the Lion King, I noticed this "Harambe" flag blowing on top of the theater. It is just another example of the details that make each area of this park so authentic.

DDW Pic 1850. Carthay Circle Theater

Carthay Circle Theater
The Carthay Circle Theater in Hollywood is the spot where Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs debuted in 1937. This historic film was the first full-length animated feature created by the Disney company. Hollywood Studios pays tribute to that building in the Sunset Boulevard area of the park. The "Once Upon a Time" store is located here. I took this shot today while waiting for my tour guests, who were enjoying the Beauty and the Beast show nearby.

DDW Pic 1849. Cinderella Castle

Cinderella Castle
In keeping with yesterday's theme of "old versus new," I noticed this view while giving a tour at Magic Kingdom today. Here is a shot of Cinderella Castle framed by a small tower at the edge of Tomorrowland. I thought it was interesting to see a medieval castle through a futuristic structure. I took this shot near Tomorrowland Terrace.

DDW Pic 1848. Space Mountain

Space Mountain
Space Mountain represents a "futuristic" type of attraction in Tomorrowland. As I was walking on the path between Storybook Circus and Tomorrowland, I noticed this photo opportunity presenting itself. The Roy O. Disney steam train was chugging by, which is the oldest "attraction" in Walt Disney World, built in 1916. I like the historic versus the futuristic aspect of this view.

DDW Pic 1847. Tomorrowland Speedway

Tomorrowland Speedway
Six days from now, Walt Disney World will celebrate its 45th birthday. The Magic Kingdom opened on October 1st, 1971. I thought it was appropriate that I was driving car number "71" on Tomorrowland  Speedway today. This is a shot of the hood of my car.

DDW Pic 1846. World Showcase Lagoon

World Showcase Lagoon
The Epcot International Food and Wine Festival is underway, and we enjoyed visiting tonight. It was a beautiful night to sample foods from around the world. This was my view at sunset from the area in between Mexico and Norway.

DDW Pic 1845. Spaceship Earth

Spaceship Earth
Spaceship Earth is a world famous theme park icon, and I'm always looking for an interesting angle for a photo. Today, I saw this view while walking by Morocco in World Showcase. This shot was taken thru the outside seating area of Spice Road Table and across the lagoon. You can also see a "Friendship" boat in the foreground.

DDW Pic 1844. Lilly Belle Steam Train

Lilly Belle Steam Train
The Lilly Belle Steam Train has been circling the Magic Kingdom since the park opened in 1971. However, due to some mechanical problems, it has been out of commission for the last four years. It is now preparing to re-enter service in the near future, and I was able to take this shot in the "roundhouse" while on a backstage tour a few weeks ago.

DDW Pic 1843. Seven Seas Lagoon

Seven Seas Lagoon
Seven Seas Lagoon is the man-made lake next to the Magic Kingdom. Boats carry thousands of guests to and from that park throughout each day. I took this shot a few weeks ago, while riding in one of those boats at sunset.

DDW Pic 1842. Jammin' Chefs

Jammin' Chefs
One of my favorite live acts at Walt Disney World is the JAMMitors. This percussion trio normally performs at Epcot using drum sticks on trash cans, pails, and buckets. However, during the Food and Wine Festival, they play on stoves, pots, and pans. I took this shot while at Epcot last week.

DDW Pic 1841. The American Adventure

The American Adventure
The American Adventure is an amazing show that has been entertaining guests for almost 34 years. It is a technological marvel for 1982. I took this shot of Ben Franklin and Mark Twain during the finale, while enjoying the show last week.

DDW Pic 1840. Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom
It is rare to get an "empty park" view down Main Street at the busiest theme park in the world. However, I had just this opportunity while taking the "Magic Behind Our Steam Trains" Tour at the Magic Kingdom last week. This shot was taken at about 7:30, which was about 90 minutes before the park opened.

DDW Pic 1839. Disney Springs

Disney Springs
Disney Springs is now nearly complete, after a several year makeover which saw the addition of dozens of new shops and restaurants. The newest section opened in early summer and is called Town Center. I took this shot of the "covered" part of Town Center while visiting a few days ago. You can see that is was very quiet that morning.

DDW Pic 1838. Morocco

Although Morocco has been a part of Epcot's World Showcase for more than 30 years, it is not an original country from opening day. It has remained largely unchanged since it opened in 1984. However, there has been a relatively recent addition of a waterfront dining location called Spice Road Table. I took this shot of the exterior of the restaurant a few days ago, from the nearby boat dock.

DDW Pic 1837. Universe of Energy

 Universe of Energy
The Universe of Energy was an opening day attraction at Epcot in 1982. Although the show has changed with the addition of "Ellen's Energy Adventure," there are still some elements that are very similar to the early 80s version. The primary similarity is the dinosaur scene. I took this shot today while visiting with family.

DDW Pic 1836. Coca-Cola Store

Coca-Cola Store
I had the chance to visit the new Coca-Cola Store at Disney Springs today. This impressive three story building is home to every imaginable Coke souvenir. There is also a rooftop beverage bar. This is a shot of a wall containing hundreds of Coca-Cola glasses.

DDW Pic 1835. Hall of Presidents

Hall of Presidents
The Hall of Presidents is a classic attraction that has been in the Magic Kingdom since opening day in 1971. Although the show has changed over the years, Abe Lincoln has always been one of the stars. I took this shot yesterday, while visiting with family.

DDW Pic 1834. Roy O. Disney

Roy O. Disney
Today, we had the opportunity to take the "Magic Behind Our Steam Trains " tour at the Magic Kingdom. We learned all about the Walt Disney World Railroad. Our son, who just turned 10, is a steam train enthusiast. He had the chance to sit in the fireman's seat of the Roy O. Disney, and loved it. This is a shot of the cab of this 100 year old beauty.

DDW Pic 1833. Beach Club

Beach Club
The landscaping around Walt Disney World is amazing. Not only are the parks full of meticulously maintained flower beds, plants, and trees, but so are the resort hotels. I took this shot at Disney's Beach Club a few days ago.

DDW Pic 1832. Space Mountain

Space Mountain
This is the "re-entry" area for the Omega track on Space Mountain. You can see the front of a returning rocket on the right side of the photo. I was waiting for my tour guests to return from space, when I took this shot.

DDW Pic 1831. Yacht Club

Yacht Club
Disney's Yacht Club Resort has a nautical theme, and is located within walking distance of both Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Yesterday, I took a walk to this hotel from World Showcase. This globe sits in the middle of the lobby. If you look closely, you will see a blue, classic "hidden Mickey" toward the bottom right.

DDW Pic 1830. Japan

Today, I set up my mobile office in one of my favorite spots in Epcot. This seating area is located up next to Katsura Grill in Japan. It is a quiet area that is off the beaten path, and there are some great views from this location. There is also a tranquil waterfall nearby.

DDW Pic 1829. Canada

There are so many great photo opportunities around Epcot's World Showcase. Last week, while waiting for my tour guests outside of the O'Canada film, I noticed this interesting angle. Looking through these rocks, you can see this pavilion's icon, the Hotel du Canada.

DDW Pic 1828. Peter Pan's Flight

Peter Pan's Flight
Although the lines  are often very long for Peter Pan's Flight, the interactive queue makes the time go by rather quickly. It takes you through the Darling nursery, and you see Tinker Bell flying around at times.  There are also shadows on a wall depicting butterflies and bells, and they react to hand motions by guests.  And the shot, you can see the streak of Tinker Bell's light  heading across the pirate ship sail.

DDW Pic 1827. The Seas

The Seas
The Seas with Nemo & Friends at Epcot is a great pavilion to visit early in the morning, as it is usually very quiet. There is no line to get on the ride and the aquarium is nearly empty. I took this shot around 9:30 in the morning, while giving an Epcot tour.

DDW Pic 1826. Rags to Riches

Rags to Riches
The "Rags to Riches" statue sits behind Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom. It depicts Cinderella as a servant, but shows a crown painted on the wall behind her. If a child is standing in the right spot in front of her, it looks like the crown is sitting on the head of this princess. I like the way she appears as a sillouette in this nighttime shot.

DDW Pic 1825. China

The China pavilion at Epcot is known for its "Circlevision 360" theater that shows a unique film about the history of that country. However, there is also a museum area attached to the lobby of the theater, that was recently updated. It is now showcasing the brand new Shanghai Disney Resort, with details about each area of Disney's newest park. This exhibit definitely makes me want to visit it, especially to ride the new Tron coaster.

DDW Pic 1824. Scarecrow

Preparations have begun for one of my favorite times of year at Walt Disney World. The Magic Kingdom is decorated, and ready for the season's first "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party" tomorrow night. I took this shot of the baseball playing scarecrow tonight in Town Square.
