DDW Pic 2342. Wilderness Lodge

Wilderness Lodge
The Wilderness Lodge is one of my favorite Disney resorts, based on its theming. It takes you out of Central Florida and puts you into America’s Great Northwest. I noticed this bison topiary the other day, which is in the area of the new Geyser Point restaurant.

DDW Pic 2341. Rivers of Light

Rivers of Light
The Rivers of Light show has quickly become one of the favorite nighttime shows at Walt Disney World. Most performances fill up quickly, and there is rarely an empty seat available at showtime. I took this shot at the later show, a few nights ago.

DDW Pic 2340. Thunder Mountain

Thunder Mountain
I have taken hundreds of exterior photos of Thunder Mountain over the years. However, I don’t have many from “inside” the attraction. This canary fits with the mining theme, and can be found in the area where riders exit the trains from the right hand track.

DDW Pic 2339. Be Our Guest

Be Our Guest
Be Our Guest is nearly five years old, and is still one of the most popular restaurants on Disney property. This spot offers French inspired cuisine, with surroundings that make you feeel like you stepped inside the Beauty and the Beast movie. I took this shot in the ballroom, after enjoying breakfast there yesterday morning.

DDS Pic 2338. Zebras

Kilimanjaro Safaris at Animal Kingdom has always been a favorite of mine. One of the best things about this attraction is how close you get to some of the animals. I took this shot of the zebras yesterday, while enjoying the attraction with my siblings.

DDW Pic 2337. Space Mountain

Space Mountain
The Astro Orbiter is the focal point of Tomorrowland, sitting high atop Rocket Tower Plaza. In addition to being a fun ride, it offers some great views of Magic Kingdom. I took this shot of Space Mountain yesterday, from this elevated “perch.”

DDW Pic 2336. Peter Pan’s Flight

Peter Pan’s Flight
Peter Pan’s Flight is one of those classic “dark rides” where if is difficult to take photos, due to the low light levels. However, our pirate ship stopped for a few moments this morning. This gave me the chance to take this clear shot of Tick Tock Croc this morning.

DDW Pic 2334. Toy Story Land

Toy Story Land
The next major addition coming to Hollywood Studios is Toy Story Land. It is scheduled to open next year. There is a model on display in the “Walt Disney Presents” attraction, that gives a good overview of what to expect in the new area.

DDW Pic 2233. Grand Avenue

Grand Avenue
Hollywood Studios is in the middle of two major construction projects, including Toy Story Land and Star Wars. However, they just completed a smaller upgrade to the area that was part of the Streets of America. They left a small number of building facades standing, and now call that area Grand Avenue. It will eventually connect to the entrance to the new Star Wars area.

DDW Pic 2232. Everest

Expedition Everest has a theme that revolves around the legend of the yeti. There are many artifacts located around the attraction related to that story. I took a shot of this yeti statue while my tour guests were enjoying the coaster.

Karamell Küche
One of my favorite snacks at Walt Disney World can be found in the German pavilion at Epcot. The caramel popcorn from Karamell Küche is delicious. I took this shot last week, while enjoying the Food and Wine Festival.

DDW Pic 2229. Soarin’

Soarin’ has been one of the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World, since it opened in 2005. Usually, the “standby” line is very long, and it is rare to see this queue area empty. However, I took this shot on a quiet morning in September, when there was very little wait.

DDW Pic 2228. Wilderness Lodge

Wilderness Lodge
Disney recently completed the expansion of the Wilderness Lodge Villas. Along with the new cabins and quick service restaurant, the DVC section of this resort has a great new pool. I took this shot a few weeks ago, while exploring the new area.

The photo opportunities around Pandora at Animal Kingdom are plentiful. There are many areas with cascading waterfalls, that are perfect for “long exposure” shots. I took this one yesterday, while enjoying Pandora with family.

DDW Pic 2226. Living with the Land

Living with the Land
Living with the Land has been entertaining and educating Epcot guests for 35 years. It has changed a bit since it opened in 1982 as “Listen to the Land,” but it is still similar to the original. I took this picture of a fall scene in the greenhouse, while riding today.

DDW Pic 2225. Pet Cemetery

Pet Cemetery
Just after exiting the Haunted Mansion, guests walk past the pet cemetery. Historically, this area was shaded and fairly dark. However, the recent hurricane knocked over a tree or two, and the pet cemetery is now open and bright.

DDW Pic 2224. Heritage House

Heritage House
The Heritage House is a building in Liberty Square that has been used for many different things, over the years. It is now being used as a ticket sales spot. I stopped in for a quick photo today, while giving a Magic Kingdom tour.

DDW Pic 2223. Canada

One of my favorite areas of World Showcase is the back of the Canada pavilion. I love the theming and the feeling of being transported way up north. I took this waterfall shot a few days ago, while giving an Epcot tour.

DDW Pic 2222. Haunted Mansion

Haunted Mansion
Since the Haunted Mansion is so dark inside, it is tough to take pictures while riding. However, a few days ago, my doom buggy stopped in this spot, and I was finally able to get a photo of the grandfather clock. When you see it in person, you will notice that the hands on this creepy timepiece actually move backwards.

DDW Pic 2221. American Adventure

American Adventure
The American Adventure at Epcot has been the anchor of World Showcase for 35 years. I have seen the show dozens of times, since it opened in 1982. However, I noticed something interesting while walking down the ramp toward the exit yesterday. Some of the lyrics from the attraction’s theme song, Golden Dream, can be seen on the ceiling beams.

DDW Pic 2220. Festival Center

Festival Center
The old Wonders of Life pavilion still gets a lot of use during the different Epcot festivals. Right now, it is used for wine tastings, culinary demonstrations, and merchandise sales for the Food and Wine Festival. I took this panorama while giving a tour today.

DDW Pic 2219. Spaceship Earth

Spaceship Earth
Epcot just celebrated its 35th anniversary. As part of the Food and Wine Festival, Disney created a tribute to the history of Epcot in the craft beer pavilion. Along with early photographs of the park, a video highlighting its creation, and special merchandise, this model of Spaceship Earth can be found here.

DDW Pic 2218. “it’s a small world”

“It’s a small world”
When you think of classic attractions at Walt Disney World, one of the first to come to mind is “it’s a small world.” The original ride debuted at the 1964 World’s Fair, over 50 years ago. I took this shot in the Middle East area today, while enjoying the happiest cruise that ever set sail.

DDW Pic 2217. Illuminations

Illuminations is one of the best fireworks displays on the planet, and it happens every single night. However, a few nights ago, it got even better. They added a special “tag” at the end, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the opening of Epcot. I took this shot near near the end of the regular part of the show, and added the long exposure effect.

DDW Pic 2216. LeFou’s Brew

LeFou’s Brew
LeFou’s Brew is a delicious frozen apple juice drink with a hint of toasted marshmallow, and topped with a passion fruit-mango foam. It can be found at Gaston’s Tavern in Fantasyland. I indulged in this refreshing beverage last week, while waiting for my guests who were enjoying Enchanted Tales with Belle.

DDW Pic 2215. Epcot 35

Epcot 35
Today, we say happy 35th birthday to Epcot. Epcot Center, as it was known then, opened on October 1, 1982. Disney did several things to celebrate the occasion, including a special ceremony, amazing fireworks tag at the end of Illuminations, and commemorative park maps and buttons.
